Usually, one driver will deliver your shed using a special machine called a Mule, which is like a forklift but is specially made for storage buildings. The driver will use it to move your shed with ease from their truck to your preferred location.
Proper site preparation is essential for the successful delivery and installation of your new building. It is critical that you have a level site for your new building. Many customers have a level concrete pad poured or crushed stone leveled at the building location prior to delivery, but we also offer block packages for an additional fee.
Concrete blocks are a popular way to successfully support a building while keeping it off the ground. Ideally, your site should be no more than 8” off of level for the block site prep to be installed by your delivery driver. Usually, 2” or 4” thick concrete blocks are placed on the ground starting on the uphill side of the building, then leveled from there. Blocks are placed approximately every 6’ under every 4×4 runner. Shims and treated wedges are used when needed for leveling. The mule (machine similar to a forklift specifically used for storage buildings) will usually be used to set your building once the block is prepared.
It is important that you know exactly where your building will be going and how much grade the area has so your dealer can help you select the right block or leveling option. We highly recommend marking and measuring the 4 corners of the area you want your building and showing a picture of this to your dealer. This will ensure you get the right building and have a seamless delivery experience. Also, keep in mind that the delivery driver will need a clear path for access – 2 ft. wider than your building and 14 ft. high, so think about access to this area, including things like where limbs, power lines, fences, and septic tanks are located.
